De-escalation of war by ants

Camponotus gigas. Its one of the largest ant species in the world. I read in a journal once that it was capable of de-escalating war between rival colonies to reduce loss of its soldiers. I guess it doesn't believe in pyric victory. Read more about this amazing creature here at antbase.

adrian loo hock beng? i'm not sure if this is the correct site to get you at, but i'm guessing it is. anyway, it's been a long time since i last heard from you, which is not unusual. i lost my mobile, and your number along with it, in amsterdam a couple of months ago, and hence i am making an effort to contact you, again!! i tried calling RJ but it seems impossible to get you there. anyway, if you are interested you can always get in touch with me, since you have my number. you must be a busy with the kids and teaching, so if you don't want to, i understand. i've given up with the idealistic, juvenile hope that somehow members will always be members anyway. but i guess the least i can do is try. well, happy birthday and best wishes for the future. i spotted a bigger ant than that here in a mountain in Northern Luzon, Philippines, when we hike Mount Linao in Adams. I was just too tired and wasn't able to take pic on them.

Pity about the picture, it would have been real nice to see a bigger ant!
