Mangifera leaves

This morning as I drove out of the carpark in the early morning, I saw an Indian lady pluck a bunch of mango leaves from a tree, and carefully checking the appearance of each leaf. What a nice scene that was. Its nice to know that we are at least not too far-removed from direct interaction with nature.

"The cultivated mango is probably a natural hybrid between M. indica and M. sylvatica that occurred in southeastern Asia to India. Selection of wild types has occurred for 4000-6000 yr, and vegetative propagation for at least 400 yr in India". Mangifera indica website.
